Synthesia, which lets businesses generate videos of AI avatars reading a script rather than filming a human presenter, raised a $180 million Series D led by New Enterprise Associates, valuing the company at $2.1 billion. Existing investors GV, MMC Ventures and FirstMark took part alongside new backers including WiL, Atlassian Ventures and PSP Growth.
The valuation was roughly double the $1 billion mark Synthesia reached in its June 2023 Series C, an Nvidia-backed round led by Accel — Nvidia’s venture arm, NVentures, remained an investor. The company said it had more than a million users and over 60,000 business customers, including a majority of the Fortune 100, with total funding raised passing $330 million. It said the new capital would fund product development and expansion into Japan and Australia alongside its existing US and European markets.
The round came amid a wider wave of funding for generative-video and AI-avatar companies competing to displace corporate training and marketing video production, an application seen as a nearer-term commercial market than harder text-to-video generation aimed at film and advertising. Synthesia went on to raise a further $200 million Series E in January 2026, taking its valuation to roughly $4 billion.
