Collective Action for Existential Safety (CAES) is a grassroots initiative that tries to coordinate people and organisations around reducing existential risk — from artificial intelligence, nuclear weapons and engineered pandemics — rather than conducting research itself. Launched publicly in February 2025 by the entrepreneur James Norris, it is best known for a published catalogue of more than eighty concrete actions that individuals, organisations and governments can take to improve humanity's odds, and it runs periodic coordination calls for safety-organisation leaders and frontier-lab staff.
