Motif Technologies is a South Korean AI lab, a subsidiary of the AI-infrastructure company Moreh, that builds open-weight models under the country's state-backed sovereign-AI push. Its Motif 3, released in August 2026 under an MIT licence, was built for the government's "Dokpamo" programme, whose rule that entrants use no foreign model weights reflects a wider drive for national independence from US and Chinese AI.
