Wayve is a London self-driving company that takes an "end-to-end" approach: rather than hand-coding driving rules or relying on detailed pre-mapped routes, it trains a single neural network to map camera input to driving decisions, and argues this learned system can generalise to new cities without bespoke engineering for each. Founded in 2017 by Alex Kendall and Amar Shah, it positions its software as a layer that carmakers and fleet operators can license rather than a robotaxi service of its own. In a February 2026 round it raised over a billion dollars at a valuation reported around $8.6bn, with backers including SoftBank, Nvidia, Microsoft and Uber.
