Model
gemini-4-carbon
Gemini 4 Carbon is the model Google released in October 2026, only a month after Gemini 4 Argon, and called its strongest yet. It was built for long-horizon coding and cyber defence, and Google said its teams had seen it work on a single engineering problem for days. Like Argon, it went first to vetted security teams in Google's Fairwind programme, with developers and the public promised access later. At launch Artificial Analysis ranked it first on its composite intelligence index, a point ahead of Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5, though rival models still led on some coding and computer-use tests.
