Model
gpt-4o
GPT-4o, released in May 2024, was OpenAI's first model trained natively across text, images and audio rather than stitching separate systems together, which let it hold spoken conversations at roughly human response speed. It matched the older GPT-4 on text while being faster and cheaper, and was the first frontier-class model offered free to ChatGPT users. Its launch was quickly overshadowed by a dispute with the actress Scarlett Johansson, who said one of its voices closely resembled hers after she had declined to take part.
