Hock Tan is the president and chief executive of Broadcom, a role he has held since 2006, during which he built the company through a series of large acquisitions including Avago's 2016 purchase of the original Broadcom and the 2023 acquisition of VMware. A Malaysian-born US executive trained in engineering at MIT with an MBA from Harvard, he has positioned Broadcom as a major supplier of custom AI accelerators and networking chips.
