Hume AI is a US company, founded in 2021 by Alan Cowen, a former Google researcher whose work focused on measuring emotional expression. It builds voice interfaces designed to detect and convey emotional cues, marketing its Empathic Voice Interface as a conversational system tuned to the tone as well as the content of speech. It raised a $50m Series B in 2024 led by EQT Ventures.
