OpenRouter
A unified API and marketplace that routes requests across many LLM providers through a single endpoint.
OpenRouter is a US company that runs a unified API and marketplace for large language models, letting developers reach hundreds of models from different providers through a single endpoint and billing account and routing each request to whichever provider is cheapest or fastest. Founded in 2023 by Alex Atallah, a co-founder of the NFT marketplace OpenSea, it positions itself as a neutral routing layer between application builders and the labs, and its published usage rankings have become a widely cited read on which models developers actually use. It raised a Series B led by CapitalG that reporting put at a valuation of about $1.3bn, and in 2026 was the subject of reports that the payments company Stripe was in talks to acquire it.
