OpenAI launches ChatGPT for Financial Services

OpenAI launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a version of ChatGPT Enterprise built for investment-banking and equity-research work, developed with Morgan Stanley and the boutique bank Evercore as design partners. The product runs on GPT-6 Astra and bundles financial data feeds — including Daloopa, PitchBook, Crunchbase and LSEG News, plus dozens of further connectors — directly into the chat interface, and can produce presentations, spreadsheets and dashboards, including pitchbooks styled to a bank’s own templates.

The pitch is explicitly aimed at the work of junior staff: CNBC reported the tool targets tasks typically done by first- and second-year analysts, such as building financial models and drafting client materials from public and licensed data. Nick Turley, OpenAI’s vice-president and head of ChatGPT, framed the collaboration with outside banks as a way of grounding the product in real workflows, telling Fortune there is “a difference between what looks good in a demo and what is actually a usable output,” and said the aim was productivity gains rather than headcount reduction. The product carries the access controls already built into ChatGPT Enterprise, including encryption and role-based permissions, and requires an enterprise account.

The launch is one of several moves by OpenAI in September 2026 to package its frontier model into industry-specific enterprise products, and it lands directly on the long-running debate over whether generative AI displaces or merely reshapes entry-level white-collar work — a debate this product’s own design, automating tasks associated with junior analyst roles, does little to settle either way absent independent data on adoption or resulting headcount.
