Reddit is a US social platform whose vast archive of user discussion has made it both a supplier of AI training data and a litigant over its use. In February 2024 it signed a reported $60m-a-year deal letting Google train models on its posts, and later struck a similar arrangement with OpenAI; it has since positioned that content as a licensed asset. In October 2025 it sued Perplexity and several data-scraping firms, accusing them of harvesting its data without permission, placing it among the rightsholders testing what AI companies may take from the open web.
