At a summit in Washington titled “Science: A New Golden Age”, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy announced $2.4bn in pledges from eleven companies to the Genesis Mission, the federal programme for AI-driven research launched in November 2025. The pledges are mostly compute credits and access to AI tools. They were the largest item in a package the administration valued at more than $6bn across government, industry, universities and philanthropy.

Nvidia pledged the most, $1bn over five years for quantum computing, healthcare and energy research. Then came AMD ($500m), OpenAI ($200m), Anthropic and Google ($150m each), AMP and Emerald AI ($100m each), and AWS, Armada, Crusoe and Micron ($50m each). Anthropic said its share, spread over three years, would provide Claude, Claude Code and API credits to several hundred research projects at more than 15 agencies, including NASA, the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, with fusion and quantum computing as priorities.

The rest of the package included a $100m Genesis Mission Fellowship for accelerated PhDs combining AI with another science, more than $100m from the NSF and the Department of Energy for automated laboratories and scientific instruments, and regional computing hubs in the south-east, including a $1bn Georgia commitment from universities, industry and the state.

The announcements used the administration’s new vocabulary. OSTP director Michael Kratsios described “a New Golden Age of Science powered by super intelligence”. Jensen Huang said Nvidia was “putting advanced Super Intelligence in the hands of America’s scientists”. Both followed the order of 29 September directing federal agencies to use that term for AI.
