1 entry · 23 July 2026

The Alliance for Secure AI is a Washington-based non-profit that campaigns for guardrails on advanced AI, launched in June 2025 and led by founder and chief executive Brendan Steinhauser, a political strategist with roots in the Tea Party movement and Republican congressional campaigns. Politico has described it as a bipartisan group pressing a middle-ground approach to AI rules; it opposed the 2025 federal effort to bar states from regulating AI, launched a JobLoss.ai tracker in 2026, and backed the AI Kill Switch Act. It runs a 501(c)(3) foundation alongside an affiliated 501(c)(4) action arm; it has not disclosed its donors, and its backers are not publicly known.
