Figure AI

General-purpose humanoid robots aimed at manual labour in industry and, eventually, the home.

3 entries · May 2023 – September 2025

Figure is a US company building general-purpose humanoid robots intended to do physical work in factories, warehouses and eventually homes. Founded in 2022 by the entrepreneur Brett Adcock, it has moved quickly from prototypes to pilots, testing its robots on partner production lines and, for a period, running a collaboration with OpenAI before ending it in early 2025 to develop its own AI in house. In September 2025 the company said it had raised more than $1bn in a Series C round that valued it at about $39bn, with backers including Nvidia, Microsoft, Intel Capital and Jeff Bezos — one of the largest valuations yet attached to a humanoid-robot startup, and one critics note rests on capability the robots have still to demonstrate at scale.
